Lauren Ashley Howard: Homegoing is an ushering of the departed from the confines of trauma and back into the world of the living by recontextualizing loss and death through an Afrofuturist lens. Notions of mourning and how we think of those who were lost to violence during the fight for freedom are challenged, and that which we call “life” is similarly questioned in pursuit of a space for and of Black healing.
